About Wouldn’t You Like To Know For Him
Wouldn’t You Like To Know For Him is a gourmand woody oriental eau de parfum for men, inspired by A*Men by Mugler. It is the strangest and most memorable fragrance we make.
The opening is misleadingly fresh. Bergamot, peppermint and lavender arrive cold and clean, with heliotropin adding a powdery almond softness, and for a few minutes you would be forgiven for thinking this is a barbershop scent.
Then the heart lands and everything changes. Coffee bean arrives first, dark and roasted and genuinely convincing, and behind it comes tar, which is exactly as industrial as it sounds: smoky, black, slightly rubbery. Patchouli ties the two together with earth. This combination should be unpleasant and instead it is hypnotic, the fragrance equivalent of burnt sugar on a hot pan.
The base is dessert. Chocolate, caramel, vanilla and tonka bean pile up into something rich and sticky, with musk keeping it warm and skin-close. The contrast between the tar and the caramel is the entire reason this style earned a cult following, and it lasts for hours on skin and days on wool.
Wear it in winter, to dinners and late nights, and go lightly: two sprays is genuinely enough. It also divides opinion, so consider it a fragrance for people who enjoy being asked what on earth they are wearing.
If you love A*Men
If you love A*Men by Mugler, this shares its DNA in the places that made the original famous: the fresh lavender and mint opening, the extraordinary coffee and tar heart, and the chocolate, caramel and vanilla base that turned a gourmand fragrance into a masculine icon.
Ours smooths the edges slightly. The tar note is present but a little gentler, which makes the middle hours less industrial and more roasted, and our caramel is a shade more prominent than the chocolate. The original is more challenging in its first hour; ours is easier to live with while keeping the same shape. Both perform extremely well, lasting eight hours or more. It is a fragrance inspired by that composition rather than a reproduction of it, and the softer tar is where ours goes its own way.

When to wear it
Winter nights are where this belongs. Cold air keeps the caramel and coffee from becoming cloying, and it is far too rich for a hot day or a shared office. Two sprays, no more, applied to the chest so the sweetness rises slowly. It lingers on knitwear for days, so the 30ml at R70 will outlast most people's expectations.

Is it really as sweet as it sounds?
It is very sweet, but the tar, patchouli and mint keep it from being simply a dessert. Most people find the contrast is what makes it wearable rather than sickly.
How much should I apply?
Two sprays. This is among the most potent fragrances we sell, and a third spray will fill a room rather than a conversation.
Who is this best suited to?
