About Gold Velvet
Gold Velvet is a classic floral oriental eau de parfum for women, inspired by N°5 by Chanel. It is the most traditional fragrance we make, and the one that smells most obviously like perfume rather than like a scented product.
The opening is all sparkle. Aldehydes give it that famous fizzing, slightly soapy brightness, with bergamot, lemon and neroli underneath adding clean citrus. It is a beginning that feels formal, almost ceremonial, and it tells you immediately that this fragrance was built to be worn with intention.
The heart is an entire garden. May rose and jasmine lead, ylang-ylang adds a creamy tropical richness, iris contributes cool powder and lily of the valley keeps a green thread running through it. No single flower wins. They blend into one abstract floral impression, which is exactly what the great perfumes of the last century set out to achieve.
The base is extraordinarily deep. Sandalwood and cedarwood give structure, oakmoss and vetiver add earth, patchouli lends darkness, and amber, vanilla, musk, civet and ambergris create a warm, skin-like glow that lasts and lasts. The final hours smell like soft powder on warm skin, and they are the best part.
Wear it to weddings, to anniversaries, to anything with candles and speeches. Two sprays in cool weather, applied to skin rather than clothing, and let it develop for half an hour before you decide.

If you love N°5 by Chanel, Gold Velvet shares its DNA in the aldehydic opening, the abstract rose and jasmine bouquet at its centre, and the powdery sandalwood, musk and amber base that defines the entire style of classic French perfumery.
Ours is a little warmer and slightly less soapy. The aldehydes are present but calmer, so the first ten minutes are gentler than the original, and our vanilla gives the dry-down a sweeter finish. The original is more austere and more abstract; ours is a touch more comforting. Longevity is excellent on both, often more than eight hours, with strong presence in the first two. Gold Velvet is an original composition inspired by that legendary profile, not a reproduction of it, and the warmer base is where it stands apart.

When to wear it
Cool weather and important evenings. Autumn and winter suit it best, and it belongs at weddings, anniversaries, formal dinners and celebrations rather than at the shops. Two sprays only, applied to warm skin at the throat and wrists, and never rubbed in. The 50ml at R120 is the right size for a fragrance kept for occasions that deserve it.

Does Gold Velvet smell like N°5?
It shares the same aldehydic, powdery floral character that makes N°5 by Chanel instantly recognisable. Ours is an original composition inspired by that fragrance rather than a reproduction, and our base is warmer and sweeter.
Is this fragrance too old-fashioned for a young woman?
It is classic rather than dated. Worn lightly on young skin it reads as elegant and unusual, precisely because so few modern fragrances are built this way.
Why should I not rub my wrists together?
Rubbing crushes the delicate top notes and shortens the opening. Spray, let it dry naturally, and the aldehydes and florals will unfold as they were intended to.
How long does it last?
More than eight hours on skin and considerably longer on a coat or a scarf. The sandalwood, musk and amber base is remarkably persistent.
